Board authorizes up to $560,000 purchase of 11 standby generators for special districts

The Lake County Board of Supervisors authorized the special districts administrator and assistant purchasing agent to issue a purchase order not to exceed $560,000 to Energy Systems / Generac Industrial Power for 11 standalone generators to be installed at special-district sites.
Special districts administrator Robin Boray told the board the county received a grant from "CaliwayES" covering about $420,000—approximately 75% of the purchase price—and that local funds already are budgeted by each district to cover the remainder. The purchases include generators sized between about 30 kilowatts and 150 kilowatts and are intended to power eight lift stations and three wells during wildfires, public-safety power shutoffs or other outages.
Supervisor Owen asked about expected lifespan; staff said, depending on usage and maintenance, a reliable service life of about 10 years is expected, with regular maintenance extending longevity.
The board approved the motion by voice vote.
Ending Staff will apply federal procurement standards where required and proceed with purchase-order issuance; installation, maintenance schedules and site assignments will be managed by the special districts department.
