Commissioners elect chair, appoint committee members and approve tax-exempt status for federal filings

Oklahoma County commissioners completed their annual internal organizational business by electing a chair and vice chair, approving committee appointments to replace a departing general counsel and approving tax-exempt status for federal filings.

Commissioners announced that all three districts were present and conducted nominations. One commissioner said he and another member had agreed on appointing Joe as chair; that motion passed on a voice vote. The board also approved a motion to appoint Ryan Jasper to the Policy and Governance and Infrastructure committees to replace Cody Compton, who has joined the sheriff’s office as general counsel.

Additionally, commissioners voted to approve the county’s tax-exempt status for federal filings; the motion passed on a voice vote. Commissioners congratulated the newly elected chair and acknowledged staff readiness to support the transition.
