Board approves annual gymnastics co-op with Maple; students pay fees to participate

Superintendent (name not specified) introduced the item as an annual approval required by the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) application process and asked for a motion and second. Ella (staff member) described the coop as typical for gymnastics because equipment and facility costs make standalone programs difficult for small schools. "This is a yearly re-up of the coop," she said, adding that geography limits opportunity: there is "one place to do gymnastics" within a large radius and the current cooperative structure keeps participation numbers manageable.
Ella said participating students pay fees to their home school; the district collects the fees and distributes share amounts by dividing total program costs among participating students and schools to cover travel, facility rental, supplies and coaching contracts.
The motion to approve was made and seconded; the board carried the motion by voice vote. The approval was described as a routine annual action; the administration said Maple had already completed its approval and the district must submit the WIAA application by Feb. 1.
