Elyria planning commissioners table rezoning request for 525 Mussey Avenue after health, wastewater concerns

Elyria Planning Commission on Tuesday tabled a rezone request for four parcels at 525 Mussey Avenue after city staff and the wastewater department said outstanding details and possible public‑health risks need more review.

The applicant, represented by consultant Mike Stepic of Rubber City Engineering and Environmental, asked the commission to rezone several parcels from HI (Heavy Industrial) to SI (Special Industrial) to allow a mix of uses including vehicle storage, repair and maintenance, warehousing, material processing and construction/demolition recycling. The commission did not take a vote; no motion to approve was seconded and the item was tabled to the February meeting.
