Budget Review Subcommittee names Steven Bogart chair; Mike Bortz vice chair, Lani named clerk

The Budget Review Subcommittee elected Steven Bogart as chair, Mike Bortz as vice chair and Representative Lani as clerk during the opening of its budget-review meeting. Nominations for each office were opened, seconded and carried by voice or single-cast votes during the session.

Subcommittee members opened nominations for chair, and a member nominated Steven Bogart; another member seconded. With no other nominations offered, the subcommittee closed nominations and voted to elect Bogart. After the vote the gavel was turned over to the new chair and he thanked members for their confidence.

The panel moved immediately to nominate a vice chair. A nomination for Mike Lawrence was offered and seconded; the chair announced he would cast a single registering vote for "Representative Mike Bortz, vice chair." For clerk, a member nominated Representative Lani; the nomination was seconded and the chair cast the committee's single vote in favor.

These leadership appointments set the subcommittee's presiding officers for the remainder of the budget-review process. Members proceeded from the organizational items into a detailed line-by-line review of the county budget.

"I'd like to thank everybody for their confidence in me doing this job," Steven Bogart said after taking the gavel.

No formal roll-call vote tally was recorded in the transcript; the minutes record nominations, seconds and that votes were cast and the gavel handed to the new chair.
