The C&I presentation listed multiple items brought to the board: a parent-engagement contract with Elaine Strozier (paid from Title I parent engagement set-aside); career-enrichment work at Dillard (after-school); IntelliChoice Home Care for one-to-one nursing services (PRC 60) at $17,000; collision services invoice for Southern Wayne auto lab at $27,299; a revised Heartsaver CPR contract for $36,000 (PRC 83); an adjusted adjunct collision repair instructor contract (PRC 14) for $37,700; a speech-language pathology contract with Mary Ann McCabe Jones (PRC 60) for $25,000; and a proposed contract with MGT LLC of America for school improvement support for eight targeted-assistance schools totaling $114,970.
Presenters said the MGT contract was uploaded and legally reviewed in part but required additional review; board staff said Alex (legal/administrative staff) returned an updated contract on Jan. 6 and that the MGT agreement still needed final legal sign-off. The MGT work would target eight schools identified for targeted assistance: Tomlinson Road (listed as Tommies Road in the packet), Eastern Wayne Middle, Grantham Middle, Greenwood, Mount Olive Middle, Eastern Wayne Elementary, Carver Heights Elementary and North Drive. The board discussed cover-sheet numbering and file organization; a missing or misnumbered item in the packet caused brief delay and staff clarified which attachments corresponded to which cover items.
Board members moved to approve the purchase orders and contracts that had completed review; the omnibus motion to accept the listed procurement items (with the MGT contract remaining pending legal review) was made by Mister West, seconded by Mister Sanders, and approved by the board.
Why it matters: The approved items fund nursing supports for a student, professional-development and classroom materials, and contractual school-improvement services. The MGT contract would distribute a federal/state grant allocation to specified targeted-assistance schools if finalized.
