Community Development Committee approves Dec. 2 minutes and November–December draw vouchers

The Kankakee City Council Community Development Committee approved the Dec. 2, 2024 meeting minutes and authorized draw vouchers for November and December during its Jan. 6, 2025 meeting.

Committee chair called for a motion to approve the Dec. 2 minutes; Alderman Swanson moved and Alderman Johnson seconded. The chair recorded, “The minutes are approved 5 to 0.”

The committee then considered two months of draw vouchers. Alderman Osanga moved to accept and approve the November and December draw vouchers; Alderman Johnson seconded. The committee conducted a roll call; the chair announced the vouchers passed and stated, “Alright. 5 to 0, 1 abstention.” The roll call as read on the record included Alderman Noble, Alderman Johnson, Alderman Swanson, Alderman Osanga and Alderman Barron recording “aye.” The meeting record did not specify which member cast the abstention.

The motions were taken as routine committee business. The approval of the draw vouchers authorizes payment for salaries, contractors and project expenses labeled on the submitted vouchers and moves those expenditures forward for payment processing.
