The Marshall Public School District board approved its list of 25 standing and advisory committees for 2025 and assigned members to committees that include executive governance and negotiations, facilities and performance oversight.
The board noted the executive governance and negotiations committee is typically composed of veteran board members because negotiations require experienced representation; the chair placed herself, Sarah Runtie and Jeff Chapman on that committee. The facilities, construction and planning committee was presented with Jeff Chapman, Matt Coleman and Timothy Van Moore as participants. The board also assigned members to advisory committees for the Career and Technical Institute: Mary Swanson will serve on the medical advisory panel and Timothy Van Moore on manufacturing; the board chair indicated she would cover automotive unless another member expressed interest.
Board members described meeting schedules: some advisory groups meet quarterly, the crisis/emergency preparedness ("crisis team") meets monthly over lunch, and other committees meet at various cadences (once a year to monthly). The motion to approve the committees as discussed was moved and seconded and recorded as approved during the meeting.
