Intervention materials (Lexia, I‑Ready) under state review; district to monitor funding and needs assessment

Kelly Dodd said K–3 ELA intervention is currently Lexia Core5 and K–4 math intervention is Curriculum Associates’ I‑Ready; both were on the state short list at the time of the presentation and the state was actively reviewing intervention materials.
Dodd and Miss Abonde told the board that while the state has added intervention materials to the adoption cycle, the Department of Education had not clearly required districts to adopt those materials at that time. District staff said they have heard that providing interventions is required but that adopting a specific vendor’s materials may not yet be mandatory. The district will monitor state guidance and any needs assessments from the state that would determine eligibility for intervention funding.
Potential state funding and next steps
Staff said the state indicated there are approximately $8,000,000 available statewide to support intervention purchases so long as the materials chosen are on the state approved list. For math, staff said the state planned to issue a needs assessment to districts to determine how funding might be allocated. Dodd said Lexia Core5 is currently a three‑year purchase in the district and that the district will continue to monitor the state process before making further adoption commitments.
