At its Jan. 2 meeting the Woodland Park City Council voted unanimously to approve Ordinance No. 1487 on initial posting, declaring the city website as the official public-notice instrument for 2025 and scheduling a public hearing for Jan. 16, 2025.
City Clerk Suzanne Leclair told council that the city has for several years used the website for official notices instead of newspaper publication, citing immediacy, lower cost and public preference. "Many years ago we used to do them in the newspaper and found that the public really desired them to be on the website," Leclair said.
Council also took a single recorded vote to approve the consent calendar: the Dec. 5, 2024 city council minutes and the November 2024 statement of expenditures. Councilmember comments thanked staff for timely and accurate financial reporting; the consent calendar passed unanimously.
Separately in the staff report, the finance manager presented October sales tax collections as a verbal update: year-to-date sales tax receipts through October were reported up 2.5% from the prior year (about $172,000) with October itself up 6.2% year over year. Lodging-tax revenues were reported down 14.2% year to date and down 16.5% in October. City staff explained that sales-tax remittances are received with a lag (returns due on the 20th of the following month). Council did not take any ordinance readings or adopt final ordinance language on Jan. 2; Ordinance 1487 was approved on initial posting and set for a public hearing on Jan. 16.
