Council reappoints planning commissioners, appoints Board of Review member; oaths administered

The Woodland Park City Council on Jan. 2 approved multiple appointments to city boards and commissions and administered oaths to the new appointees.
Council appointed Martine Vogel to a permanent seat on the Board of Review; Vogel had been serving as an alternate and introduced herself at the meeting as a local general contractor. Suzanne Leclair, city clerk, said the planning department recommended Vogel. The motion to appoint Vogel passed on a recorded roll call, unanimous.
The council also reappointed three incumbents to three-year terms on the Planning Commission: Ken Hartsfield, Ken Kennedy and Leigh Brown. Hartsfield attended in person and described a background in architecture and work for neighboring jurisdictions; Brown joined by Zoom and described a background as a retired attorney. The council voted to appoint all three in a single motion; the appointments passed unanimously.
After the roll-call votes, the city clerk administered oaths of office to those present.
The council framed reappointments as a way to retain institutional knowledge on planning issues; Hartsfield said staff expects to bring a code review to council within roughly a year. Several council members praised the applicants' experience and noted the value of continuity on these commissions.
