Chester County Council swears in members, elects Pete Wilson chair and Erin Mosley vice chair

Chester County Council held its first meeting of 2025 to swear in newly elected and returning council members and to elect its chair and vice chair.
The meeting opened with oaths of office for three council members. Robert W. Raines Jr. was sworn in as the District 3 council member; Pete Wilson was sworn in for a third term representing District 4; and William Killian was sworn in for a second term representing District 6. The oaths were administered by judges who attended the ceremony, including the chief municipal judge for the City of Chester.
The organizational portion of the meeting included elections for council leadership. Nominations were taken for chair and vice chair; county ordinance requires chair and vice chair to serve two-year terms. Pete Wilson and Councilman Guy were nominated for chair. After roll-call voting, the clerk confirmed that Councilman Guy received three votes and Pete Wilson received four votes, making Wilson the new chair. For vice chair, Erin Mosley and William Killian were nominated; the clerk confirmed that Killian received three votes and Mosley received four votes, making Mosley the new vice chair. The clerk read the vote confirmations aloud before announcing each result.
After the elections, Chair Pete Wilson addressed the council, saying, "I will I will give it my very best. I will be efficient meetings and that everyone's voice is heard." Several council members offered congratulatory remarks to the newly sworn members and to the leadership team. Council members also noted upcoming items on the January agenda, including a planned discussion of building and fire codes at the January 21 meeting, and reminded the public and staff of the Martin Luther King Jr. parade on Jan. 19.
No other formal legislative actions were taken at the meeting. The council moved and seconded a motion to adjourn following the comments and organizational business.
