First Class Christopher Andrew Saliz, contingent on a $15,000 contribution from the town of Summerville and the statue’s placement at the county’s planned Veterans Park at 500 North Main.
County Administrator Mario Formosano described the proposed bronze and said fundraising will continue to complete the sculpture. Council amended the initial request from $16,000 to $18,000 and tied the county’s contribution to the town’s approval of its $15,000 donation and the agreed location at the future Veterans Park.
After a motion and second the council voted unanimously in favor of the conditional match. The motion records the county’s commitment as a starting pledge to support fundraising for the sculpture; additional funds are to be raised by the town and private donors.
