Orland Park massage business urges board to increase local massage license capacity

In public comment Katie Safransky, who identified her business as Custom Massage Works, said she has operated in Orland Park for two and a half years in partnership with Lardy Chiropractic and recently began operating independently. Safransky said she was informed that an individual business license was required but that no city permit was currently available. She told trustees her business had no complaints or police incidents during two and a half years of operation and asked the board, when the matter comes to a future vote, to distinguish between legitimate massage businesses and establishments that have caused problems in the past.
Trustees did not take immediate action. Mayor Peekau said the board would regroup with staff to review the issue; no timeline or staff assignment for follow‑up was specified in the meeting record. Safransky also said she holds a state license but was unaware of a separate city requirement.
The remarks were delivered during the public comment portion of the meeting; the board did not debate or vote on licensing changes at this session.
