Orland Park trustees approve three-year ransomware protection contract with ThinkGuard

The board voted to waive the competitive bid process and participate in the interlocal cooperative purchasing system TIPS (The Interlocal Purchasing System), using contract number 200601, to purchase software and services from ThinkGuard. Trustee Malani moved the waiver and authorization; a second was acknowledged. The motion authorized the village manager to execute related contracts subject to village attorney review. The motion passed on a roll call vote with all trustees and Mayor Peekau voting aye.
Trustee Malani said the ThinkGuard system is already in use by the village and that only one vendor can provide the existing system. Staff also said switching cooperative purchasing agreements reduced the village’s annual cost by roughly $25,100 compared with the prior arrangement. The board’s authorization set an annual contract cap of $50,181.60 and a three‑year not‑to‑exceed total of $150,544.80.
The board’s action waived the local competitive-bidding requirement in favor of the cooperative contract and authorized the manager to finalize contract documents after review by the village attorney. No amendments or conditions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
Votes at the meeting were recorded as all ayes for the motion.
