The Lincoln City Council approved an amendment to Use Permit 126H on Jan. 6 to allow freestanding signs to be located on any internal lot or outlot within the Wilderness Woods planned development at 8700 Executive Woods Drive.
Mike Eckert of Civil Design Group spoke for Wilderness Woods Holdings LLC and told the council the amendment arose after replatting tied to a conversion to multifamily housing left one building’s sign no longer on the lot the building occupies. Eckert said the amendment would allow the sign to remain in its location so the building could keep its existing address.
Council members asked about site drainage and whether any outlots subject to the amendment included drainage easements. Eckert said a drainageway runs through the overall property and that the drainageway is owned by the golf course and sits outside the use-permit boundary; he said no sign would be permitted in an area that could impede drainage.
The application was introduced by Councilor Weber and carried on a unanimous roll-call vote. The council’s approval allows planning staff to permit the sign in its current location so the building can retain its address despite the replatting.
The amendment was described in staff materials as limited to this office park and was presented as having no impact on abutting properties, according to the applicant and staff report. No members of the public spoke for or against the item during the hearing.
