Delaware County commissioners reorganize leadership, approve annual appointments

The package of annual appointments the commissioners approved included executive positions such as 9-1-1 director Fred Cummings, executive assistant/office manager Sarah Hodges, county attorney John Brooke, EMA director John Catino, EMS director Mike Ashley, highway supervisor Tommy Humber and others. The commissioners also approved appointments to boards including the Alcohol Tobacco Commission (Tom Simpson), the Delaware County Greens Board (Sherry Riggin, Joe Hamilton, John Christie, Bill Whitehead, Wayne Bothell), the redevelopment commission (Michelle Batters, Steven Henry, Steven Brand, Shannon Henry), and many county authorities and commissions listed during the meeting.
The commissioners heard the list read aloud and then voted to approve the slate. The roll call recorded the approval as unanimous among commissioners present.
Background: The annual appointments are one-year terms the board fills each January. Commissioners noted some openings remain on politically bound boards, such as a Democratic vacancy on the Board of Zoning Appeals that requires interested residents to submit letters of interest.
The meeting adjourned into recess with the board scheduling its next session for Jan. 23 at 9 a.m.
