The Alton Town Budget Committee voted on Oct. 16 to name Brock Mitchell chair and Elizabeth Barney vice chair, the committee confirmed during its meeting.
The change followed a procedural clarification that the Selectmen’s representative (identified in the meeting as “Drew”) cannot serve as chair or vice chair while representing the Board of Selectmen. A member moved to name Mitchell and advance Barney into the vice chair role; another member seconded the motion and the committee voted unanimously in favor.
Committee members discussed the vacancy in the vice chair slot before voting. After the vote the committee’s presiding officer turned the meeting over to Brock Mitchell, who then continued the agenda.
The leadership change was procedural and will affect how the committee schedules future budget meetings and coordinates presentations from department heads. No further policy actions or budget allocations were tied to the officer appointments at this meeting.
