Jason Schoenstein told the Structural Pest Control Board on April 18, 2018, that he is seeking reinstatement of field representative license FR38469, revoked by default in February 2009.
Administrative Law Judge Timothy Aspinwall swore in Schoenstein, and Deputy Attorney General Tim McDonough introduced the petitioner’s packet (exhibit 1), which the ALJ admitted into evidence. McDonough summarized the accusation that led to the 2009 default decision: the board alleged Schoenstein failed to provide proof of continuing education, misrepresented completion of required education on renewal, and committed related fraudulent acts.
Schoenstein testified that he left pest control in late 2007, moved into security work and only recently sought to return to pest control, saying, “I wrongly assumed that my license would naturally expire.” Board members questioned him about two driving-under-the-influence convictions from 2009 and 2010 and about whether he had taken recent continuing-education courses; Schoenstein said he had not taken courses but would do so and would take a current field representative exam if required.
The board’s March 15, 2018 staff memorandum in the packet shows cost recovery of $1,243.25 related to the investigation. The ALJ closed the record and the matter was submitted for later consideration; no decision was announced at the hearing.
