Boulder’s Beverage Licensing Authority voted Dec. 18 to approve a modification to the fermented‑malt‑beverage and wine off‑premise license for Bridal Market (WFM‑WO Inc.), 1275 Alpine Ave.
Cole Kinzer, store leader, and Eva Garretson, petitioning consultant, testified that the modification would add a limited refrigerated beer and wine display and a small rotational assortment across the sales floor to support food‑and‑beverage pairings. Kinzer said the store is the only grocery‑store format within the petitioner boundary that lacks beer and wine and that customers regularly ask for the products.
Kinzer said the store plans a “very limited SKU count” — roughly four linear feet of refrigerated upright space plus occasional floor stacks — and estimated sales at this location of under $500 per day, based on experience at similar stores. He described store safeguards: an automatic point‑of‑sale prompt to require ID for alcohol purchases, no self‑checkout, and planned vendor‑approved training for staff (the store said it is working with an LED‑approved trainer).
Petitioning results supplied by Liquor Licensing Professionals showed overall favorability from contacted residents and businesses; Garretson noted a portion of opposition cited competition with an existing local liquor retailer. Licensing staff confirmed zoning and packet completeness.
Member Haggerty moved to approve the modification; Member Carr seconded. The motion passed unanimously (3–0).
