District staff provided a monthly construction update Jan. 2, showing visible progress at Hyde Park and Nibley school construction sites and reporting that the district is continuing design work on a new elementary school site.
During the presentation, a facilities presenter described areas A and B at Hyde Park where block work and structural steel are in place, galvanized metal decking has been installed in portions, and a concrete slab pour was planned for roughly a week after the Jan. 2 meeting. The presenter said crews returned from the holiday break and resumed work, and that Hyde Park is “well ahead of schedule” while Nibley is on schedule.
At Nibley, the presenter said a center floor slab had been poured and walls were topped out in portions; structural steel was scheduled for delivery in the coming weeks and metal decking installation was imminent. The presenter said some subcontractors have different approaches and speeds but that overall timing remains on track.
On the district’s planned new elementary school, staff said the architect is developing construction drawings and addressing site issues, including a floodplain that must be worked through before bidding. The district indicated it expects to put the new elementary school to bid in March or April 2025, subject to completion of design and site work.
Board members asked whether the projects were ahead of schedule; the presenter confirmed Hyde Park was ahead and Nibley remained on schedule. No formal board action or budget vote accompanied the update; it was delivered as an informational facilities report.
