Lebanon County approves coroner office reorganization and staffing changes

One casual part-time operations technician will be retitled to casual part-time coroner administrator (grade 7). The board also approved creation of five additional casual part-time coroner logistics technicians (about 10 hours per week), a full-time first deputy for the coroner (grade 10, 40 hours/week), and a full-time office support 1 position (grade 7, 40 hours/week), all effective Jan. 5, 2025.
County staff said the transfers consolidate duties previously handled under stipend arrangements and that the county plans a dedicated coroner office at 503 Oak Street (the former Community Action Partnership office). A staff member explained, "These transfers...are all individuals who have been performing transportation for the coroner's office on call...they have been under DES because many were also hazmat technicians." The staff member said the change discontinues prior stipends paid to private contractors and moves operations into a county department model.
