Marissa Bowers was elected president of the Gahanna City Council and Trenton Weaver was elected vice president during the council's 2025 organizational meeting, both by unanimous roll-call votes.
The two leadership elections occurred early in the meeting as council opened nominations and held separate roll-call votes. Council members present voted "yes" on each motion; there were no recorded no votes, abstentions or recusals.
The leadership roles set council's formal internal organization for the year. Bowers thanked colleagues after the vote, saying, "I want to thank my colleagues so much for trusting me with this responsibility. I think that we made a lot of great progress last year and I look forward to progress alongside of all of you again in 2025." The council then moved on to other organizational actions.
The elections were handled by motion and roll call. The council clerk conducted the roll call for both votes, and both motions were seconded before voting. No additional debate or amendments were recorded on the leadership nominations.
The council membership recorded on the roll call and voting included Marissa Bowers, Trenton Weaver, Councilman Renner, Councilman Schnetzer, Councilwoman Padova, Councilwoman Jones and Councilwoman McGregor. The meeting transitioned from the organizational votes into a set of committee and board appointments and the regular council agenda.
