Doral posts January schedule: government closures, council meetings and arts programs

The City of Doral released a January schedule that includes two government office closures, two council meetings on Jan. 15 and multiple arts and family programs at the Doral Cultural Arts Center and Downtown Doral Park.

City offices at the Doral Government Center will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1, in observance of New Year’s Day and Monday, Jan. 20, for Martin Luther King Day. The city also scheduled two council meetings on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the Doral Government Center’s third-floor Council Chambers.

The Cultural Arts Center will host several programs in mid- and late January. On Tuesday, Jan. 14, a Spanish story time featuring author Lisa Marcano starts at 4:30 p.m. On Wednesday, Jan. 15, the city and Miami International Fine Arts will present a workshop at 6 p.m. On Thursday, Jan. 16, an “Art After Dark” session begins at 6 p.m. and will include a hands-on activity to design personalized security boards.

Family and outdoor offerings include a children’s art class on Friday, Jan. 24, at 4:30 p.m. for ages 6–14 to build a scented gingerbread house on canvas, and a movie night the same day at Downtown Doral Park with the film (listed in the announcement as “kung fu band of 4”) starting at 6 p.m.; the notice advised attendees to arrive early to secure seating. On Thursday, Jan. 30, a live Latin jazz performance at the Cultural Arts Center was scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
