City clerk Sunny Romero to leave Jan. 7; Karen Hayes named replacement pending commission ratification

At the Jan. 2 meeting the Palatka Historic Preservation Board heard a staff announcement that City Clerk Sunny Romero will leave city employment on Jan. 7 and that the city manager has selected Karen Hayes to replace her. Romero said the City Commission will ratify Hayes’ appointment at its Jan. 23 meeting.
Sunny Romero made the announcement in the staff-comments portion of the meeting and thanked the board. “Is I am leaving the city. My last day will be January 7th. It's been an honor to work with each of you,” Romero said. The board and staff welcomed Karen Hayes; the city indicated the commission will ratify the appointment on Jan. 23.
The board was also introduced to Kristin Odom, who began work Jan. 2 as the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency project coordinator. Board members welcomed both new staff members and thanked Romero for her service.
The announcements were made during staff comments after the marker discussion; the board adjourned after completing business.
