The San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health urged residents to prioritize mental well-being during the holiday season and highlighted county crisis resources available around the clock.
A county behavioral health representative said the department provides counseling, psychiatric evaluations and crisis interventions. Since the launch of the county Office of Suicide Prevention, the representative said, "Over 6,000 individuals have received crisis response services." The county said it offers mobile crisis response teams and a crisis contact center that operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The county encouraged residents to use the behavioral health helpline at 888-743-1478 for immediate support and said community education, town halls and outreach help raise awareness about warning signs of suicide and available resources. "The more people who are aware of signs of suicide, the more equipped we'll be as a community to provide support," the representative said.
The county described its continuum of care as including prevention, early intervention, recovery, resilience and stabilization, and encouraged residents to contact the helpline for more information.
