Laredo — During its Dec. 18 meeting the Library Board celebrated the MOS branch’s 10th anniversary, discussed outreach and publicity for branch programs, and reviewed monthly statistics for November 2024.
Staff and board members said MOS celebrated a 10-year anniversary in early December with community activities and roughly 300 attendees at a recent event. Board members discussed holding a formal recognition or proclamation in January 2025 to mark the milestone and suggested inviting the council member who represents the branch area.
On usage statistics, staff reported November figures including 1,669 computer sessions and 8,503 Wi‑Fi sessions. The board was told library cards issued totaled 516 and renewals 833 for the month; passports processed in November numbered 84. Total collection volumes to date were reported as 293,949 items.
The bookmobile logged two programs in November with outreach attendance of 330, though circulation fields for the bookmobile showed zeros for the month; staff said the discrepancy may result from certification or recording timing while the vehicle underwent repairs.
Administrative items: staff announced a committee training date of Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, with additional logistics to be provided by the city secretary, and the board scheduled its next regular meeting for Jan. 29, 2025, at 5 p.m. The meeting adjourned at approximately 5:41 p.m.
