"Scott has developed a memo that's in your agenda packet which identifies what we believe your wishes are to express to the legislative delegation on the 8th January," said a staff member. The memo lists a $2,300,000 request for Suwannee Valley Communication Towers continued funding and recommends urging the legislature to amend fiscally constrained definitions and, if necessary, phase any reclassification over several years to avoid sudden funding losses.
Staff also described an item to encourage the school board to request BDAs for district buildings to improve radio coverage for law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services in school buildings, saying some school structures currently prevent reliable in‑building radio communications. In addition, staff identified two water‑utility projects under consideration by the North Florida Water Utilities Authority: an upgrade to the Aliceville pump station and installation of a new 6‑inch force main from that pump station to the sewer plant to support development in the Busy Bee area.
The memo also mentioned an item related to a proposed hospital authority; staff said the bill would be refined and discussed with the delegation and that a drafting timeline may bring a bill before the legislature in the fall. Commissioners did not take a final vote on the agenda at the meeting but were asked to review the memo ahead of the January delegation meeting.
