Lapeer County appoints Greg Wise to Community Mental Health board through March 2027

The Lapeer County Board of Commissioners voted Jan. 2 to appoint Commissioner Greg Wise to the county's Community Mental Health (CMH) board, filling one of two vacancies created by recent resignations.
Theresa Spencer, county clerk, said the county must have at least two commissioners on the CMH board; Commissioner Hagedon already serves on the board. The motion to appoint Wise specified a term ending March 31, 2027 and carried after a motion and support. "It's a very important committee," one commissioner said during the discussion, noting the board's "huge budget."
Commissioners thanked former commissioners Truman Mass and Bill Hamilton for their service on the CMH board; both had resigned to allow new commissioners to be appointed. The county clerk said the vacancy will be posted to allow interested citizens to apply if other commissioners do not opt to serve in addition to the minimum required membership.
The board noted CMH is a 12-member board with extensive responsibilities and a budget often substantial relative to the county's overall budget.
