A committee member said the multicultural event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 23 and suggested the committee should have a presence there. Committee members discussed that materials exist in both English and Spanish (magnets, informational cards) and that staff can inventory and order additional Spanish-language materials as needed.
Staff reported the committee’s website redesign is about “halfway through” with a contractor and that the redesign aims to simplify navigation and reduce the number of clicks required to find information. The staff member said outreach related to the city’s irrigation and toilet rebate programs could align with the March event.
Members discussed a goal of attending one community event per quarter next year and identified other high-traffic possibilities such as local festivals. Staff offered to handle logistics and inventory for printed materials; volunteers from the committee offered to assist at events and to compile bilingual resources.
No formal vote was recorded on event participation; members asked staff to pursue availability and logistics with event organizers and to report back at the committee’s January meeting.
