The Custer County Board of Commissioners adopted Resolution 25‑40 on Oct. 22 to rename a road in Kisleva Estates filing 2 from Spruce Drive to Spruce Way.
Chairman Bill Candid read the resolution, saying the assessor requested the change to avoid confusion with a Spruce Drive in Silver Cliff Heights. The board said the renaming will improve mail delivery and reduce risk of misdirected emergency responses.
"Given that was the case and after a discussion, the board was satisfied that the proper name change for said road is appropriate and would serve the best interest of the health and safety and welfare of the citizens as well as delivery of the mail and make sure that the emergency responder can get to the right address," Candid read into the record.
The resolution took effect upon adoption and the board voted to adopt Resolution 25‑40 during the meeting; the motion and second were recorded and the vote carried unanimously.
Commissioners said the name change will have minimal impact on affected addresses. The county noted the post office supported the change. The board did not enumerate an implementation schedule for notifying residents or updating signage during the meeting.
The action was entered into the minutes as an adopted county resolution (Resolution 25‑40).
