Walnut Creek wins $1 million pro-housing incentive program grant

The Walnut Creek City Manager announced Oct. 21 that the city has been awarded $1,000,000 in Pro Housing Incentive Program (PIP) funds from the State of California. The funds are earmarked to support affordable housing and homelessness-related programs, city staff said.
City staff said the award results in part from the city's earlier pro-housing designation and thanked council for policy guidance provided during the applications process. Staff cautioned that it may be some time before the money is received and that details about how the funds will be allocated and administered remain under development.
Council members and staff said they will return with proposed uses and implementation steps when additional details are available. No formal appropriation or program decisions were recorded at the meeting.
