Amber Christiansen, a board member of the Casper Celtic Irish Festival, briefed council Oct. 7 on the festival’s first year in Casper and said organizers are seeking sponsorships to support the 2026 event.
Why it matters: The festival draws visitors and supports local tourism; organizers said the event attracted out‑of‑state attendees and booked hotel rooms, contributing to the local economy.
What organizers reported
Christiansen said the festival sold 300 tickets and, counting volunteers, complimentary tickets, dancers and performers, had roughly 425 participants in total. Organizers reported 67 hotel rooms booked for the weekend and 27 advance tickets sold from outside Wyoming; they also said 22 tickets came from locations more than 30 miles outside Casper within Wyoming. Next year’s venue remained under negotiation and organizers said they will seek more sponsorships to lower participant costs and expand vendor participation.
Council response
Councilors thanked Christiansen and praised the event production and livestream coverage. Councilor Sweeney suggested inviting a local dignitary (former Wyoming governor Mike Sullivan was mentioned) to participate next year, and councilors offered to put in a good word with Visit Casper and other partners for sponsorships and impact grants.
Ending: Organizers will continue venue negotiations and sponsorship outreach; councilors offered support and staff will follow up on available city or Visit Casper programs for event support.
