Select board names housing designee to CPC, appoints anniversary committee member and herring commission member; accepts longtime school committee resignation

The board moved quickly on the appointments after each candidate spoke. Leah Fabian said she had previously worked with the Taunton Housing Consortium and described experience with HUD and grant programs that she said informed her interest in affordable‑housing work: “When I was on the select board for six years, I represented the town with the Taunton Housing Consortium…there’s that whole affordable component.” Fabian told the board she also has experience running affordable‑housing lotteries and working with assessors’ offices.
Suzanne Planca, who said she is a sophomore studying professional and technical writing and is signed with a literary agency, told the board she will write a new town history for the anniversary committee; she asked to be considered for a one‑year appointment to help produce the publication. Planca: “History and writing are my passions, and I am excited to combine both in such a way that will preserve the Town of Lakeville’s legacy.”
The board accepted the resignation of Gary Mansfield from the Old Colony School Committee and publicly recognized his years of service. Several members described Mansfield as a long‑time advocate for the regional district during a brief tribute before the acceptance vote.
All four personnel actions were approved by voice/roll call votes at the meeting. The board recorded the appointments as filling unexpired or one‑year terms where specified (the CPC housing designee term runs through 07/31/2028; the anniversary committee appointment runs through 06/30/2026; the Herring Fishery Commission term runs through 09/30/2028). No further conditions or follow‑up tasks were announced.
