The Santa Ana City Council on Wednesday awarded a construction contract to Lohengrin Inc. for the Cypress Center restoration project.
Council members described the project as community-driven and long sought by neighborhood residents. Mayor Meskwah and other members thanked staff for advancing the design and procurement after the project was funded in recent budgets.
Council member Fan and others praised the neighborhood advocates who pushed for the project. The motion to award the construction contract was made by Council member Penalosa and seconded by Council member Hernandez. The council voted 6–0 with one absence to approve the award and determined the actions are exempt from further CEQA review.
City staff said the project includes library and senior center components and emphasized that construction procurement follows standard competitive processes. Staff will manage contract execution and provide construction timelines and regular updates to the council.
