Natalie (last name not specified) told the Sunbury City Events and Commemorations Committee on Oct. 21 that Sunbury is officially an America250 Ohio community and that a planning group of local organizations has formed.

"We are officially an America 2 50 Ohio community," Natalie said, and reported that representatives from the Big Walnut Chamber of Commerce, the Lions, Kiwanis, the community library, VFW, American Legion, Bright City Church, Sunbury Christian Church, the Historical Society, Big Walnut Music Boosters, Brookshire Township and the Village of Galena have joined the planning effort. The group plans events throughout the year starting in January and will share resources and a landing page where residents can find event listings and merchandise.

Natalie said the civic designer will adapt the official America250 emblem for Sunbury and that the group plans a distributed calendar of events rather than a single large celebration.
