The Pawtucket Board of License Commissioners on Thursday approved a new auto repair license for Gearhead Auto Repair and granted entertainment and alcohol permits for two upcoming community events.
The board opened a public hearing for Gearhead Auto Repair, an application by Jeffrey Duchamp for a license at 544 Smithfield Ave, the site of a former Pawtucket Fence building and prior mechanic shop. Duchamp and a family member, who said they plan to operate the shop as a family business, described plans for weekday hours, a locked fence on the lot and an intended second-week-of-November opening. Councilors and staff reiterated standard stipulations: no work performed outdoors, maintain a clean lot, and compliance with zoning and licensing conditions.
Following the hearing, the commission voted to approve the Gearhead Auto Repair license (application AUT-25-9).
The commission also approved an entertainment and full-privilege alcohol permit for the Burbage Theater Company to host a Halloween event at 59 Blackstone Ave on Oct. 31, 2025 (license EBT25-78), and an entertainment and beer-and-wine permit for St. John Paul II Parish to hold a parish feast at 745 Central Ave on Oct. 25, 2025 (license EBT25-77). Each motion was approved by voice vote during the meeting.
Clerks recorded seven commissioners present for the meeting; motions were carried on unanimous voice votes with no recorded roll-call tallies provided in the hearing record.
