The Ossipee Selectboard was told the town’s election budget will rise in part because the town will pay for ballots and related coding for three elections next year.
Kelly, a town elections staff member, explained that the 2025 increase is driven by the number of elections the town will host and by supplies, including meals for ballot clerks. "The big increases were born from 1 election in 2025 to 3 next year," Kelly said.
Selectboard member Lynn asked if the town could post signage to reduce voter concern about ballot machines being connected to the internet. "Is there some way that you could put signage out there? These are not connected to the Internet," Lynn said. Kelly and other staff agreed to add signage; the board also discussed posting the RSA that makes it illegal for voting machines to be connected to the internet.
Board members also discussed adding audio equipment for the town meeting. Mary, a staff presenter, noted the meeting packet now includes a line for audio when Joe Deegan sets up sound for the town meeting; Deegan was described in the meeting as the person who provides the microphones and sound system, typically as a donation.
No formal vote was taken. The board directed staff to add signage and to coordinate logistics for election day supplies and any town‑meeting audio arrangements.
