Staff reported several administratively approved COAs since July and said they submitted a letter of intent for a Certified Local Government subgrant to prepare a National Register nomination for the Astor Park District; staff also plans to present at the Wisconsin Historical Society conference.
Commission staff reported on administrative activity since the commission’s July meeting and on preservation-related outreach and grant work.
Staff member Jason said several routine COAs (roof replacements, sign approvals and limited porch repairs) have been approved at the staff level since July under updated delegation rules. He noted a condition the staff continues to apply: signs must be anchored in mortar joints rather than into masonry bases. Jason also said he and a colleague would present a case-study session at the Wisconsin Historical Society conference and that the city submitted a letter of intent to seek Certified Local Government (CLG) subgrant funding to hire a consultant to prepare a National Register nomination for the Astor Park District.
Jason said the city had applied in a prior cycle but that state and federal funding cycles had been delayed; the city is reapplying for the current cycle. No formal action by the commission was required for the report items; commissioners wished staff well on the trip and encouraged representation at the conference.
