The Committee on Ordinance approved a zone change to convert a portion of 268 Carpenter Street from R‑3 (three‑family residential) to C‑2 (commercial), at the petitioner’s request to align that lot with contiguous commercial parcels and uses.

Staff said the parcel is surrounded on three sides by C‑2 zoning and that the rear yard has been used for commercial purposes by the same property owner. The petitioner’s representative, Americo Scungio, confirmed that the amended petition narrowed the request to convert that entire lot to C‑2 and that a second petition listed on the agenda had been withdrawn.

After the City Plan Commission’s positive recommendation was entered into the record, the committee closed the public hearing and approved the rezoning as amended.
