Council to solicit applicants for boards; Oct. 29 meeting to be canceled

City staff told the Sunbury City Council on Oct. 15 that multiple boards and commissions will have positions expiring at the end of the year and that the city will issue a public call for applicants. Staff said highlighted terms appear on page 76 of the council packet, noted off-cycle terms and that some positions will require appointments after the election, and said staff will contact incumbents whose terms are expiring if they wish to reapply.
Staff noted that two positions on the East Community Development Authority had already expired but that the authority has not yet met. Staff also said one member (identified as Tim in the packet discussion) must be replaced because an individual cannot serve on two overlapping boards.
Council members moved, seconded and agreed to cancel the Oct. 29 council meeting because the calendar month contained five Wednesdays and two meetings were sufficient; members characterized the decision as an efficiency step. No formal ordinance was adopted to cancel the date; the cancellation was recorded in discussion.
