City staff told the Sunbury City Council on Oct. 15 that the municipal building's lower level will be closed for a short period to address suspected mold and to allow sanitary-sewer replacement work. The building was scheduled to be closed on the Friday and the following Monday for sewer work; a prior closure was planned for a separate fogging/remediation step. Staff said the contractor remains on schedule but noted a small issue with the Delaware County building department that they are working through.
Administration reported a business retention visit to Hitachi (the transcript referred to 'Hitachi Eskimo') to discuss workforce and recruitment concerns; staff said the company faces retirements among longtime employees and city staff will coordinate with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services teams to assist recruitment. The city also noted that a set of oversized 'superloads' expected to pass through the area had their schedule adjusted and will now travel on successive Sundays beginning this coming Sunday.
No formal council action was taken on these administrative items at the Oct. 15 meeting.
