The City of Tracy engineering division announced plans to resurface Tracy Boulevard from Grant Line Road to Lowell Avenue, including new asphalt, curb and gutter work, improved sidewalks, drainage upgrades and enhanced striping near schools and crosswalks. Lauren, an engineering division representative for the City of Tracy, described the scope during a brief public update.

The work will include “enhanced striping, especially near schools and crosswalks, to make a safer and easier commute for everybody,” Lauren said. She said crews will work overnight “starting at approximately 8PM and ... until 4AM to help minimize traffic impacts to schools and businesses.”

City staff did not specify a start date, the expected duration of the project, the contractor or the project budget during the announcement. Lauren said the city will post updates and photos as the work gets underway.

The resurfacing and striping changes are intended to improve pedestrian safety at crossing points near schools and to limit daytime traffic disruption by scheduling the bulk of lane closures overnight. There was no discussion of required council votes, funding sources or permitting during the remarks; the announcement was presented as an informational briefing by city engineering staff.
