Caddo Parish executive committee recognizes student leaders, science winner, CTA graduates and JROTC promotions

The committee introduced the October Student Leader of the Month, Amarion Carter, a senior at Southwood High School and District 10 student representative who told the board he plans to study law. Woodlawn High School—hoir performed under the direction of Zachary Burton and was recognized for recent growth in membership.
The board recognized Maya Trechell of Caddo Magnet High School for winning first place in the embedded systems category at the 2025 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair for a project addressing pressure-ulcer prevention. The superintendent and board praised her work and noted her progression from regional and state competitions to the international stage.
Administrators presented the graduating cohort of the Caddo Teaching Academy (CTA), an alternative teacher-certification program. Patrice (presenter name in transcript) described the two-year program nd staff-cited retention figures: 78% retention for program completers currently still teaching in Caddo and 93% of all program completers still teaching (some relocated). The board recognized the new CTA graduates by name.
The board also honored JROTC promotions. Colonel Layfield and district staff announced promotions of cadets to brigade- and corps-level commands, including Cadet Jayla Williams as corps commander for Caddo Magnet and several brigade commanders at other high schools. Cadet Williams was presented with the Legion of Valor Bronze Cross for outstanding achievement, an award the transcript attributes to the Legion of Valor Association.
Finally, the Booker T. Washington High School Alumni Foundation recognized two district officials as part of its "Washington 75" list of influential alumni: Dr. Terrence Vinson (district representative) and Jasmine Green (president, not present).
