Attorney general's office outlines plan for regulatory sandbox; asks legislature for startup funding

Hutchison said the statutory framework anticipates a director and administrative support (1.5 FTEs in the statute), but those positions were not funded during the most recent session. He said the office will seek funding in the early supplemental or the next budget cycle and requested the committee's support for those positions so the sandbox can be operationalized. Hutchison emphasized he expects only narrow regulatory definitions and limited agency rulemaking for the startup and that the sandbox's core purpose is to reduce regulatory friction for promising businesses rather than expand rule complexity.
