The Show Low City Council on Oct. 21 awarded a purchase of water stock parts for city water-system maintenance to Core & Main (Core & Main of Show Low) for an amount not to exceed $74,378.38.
City staff explained the water department annually bids to replenish stock parts used for emergency repairs. Historically the annual parts bid has been below the city council approval threshold of $50,000, but this year higher prices and supply-chain issues increased the low bid totals above that threshold. Staff said the parts are kept in inventory for quick access during after-hours water breaks and that some items have long lead times if ordered individually.
Three sealed bids were opened: Core & Main (Show Low) at $74,378.38; Ferguson Water Works (Chandler) at $75,023.41; and Fort Line Water Works (Lakeside) at $86,739.47. Staff recommended awarding the purchase order to Core & Main as the lowest responsive bidder.
Councilman Judd moved to award the purchase to Core & Main in an amount not to exceed $74,378.38; Councilman Hatch seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Staff said the parts are stored in a city facility and used to reduce downtime for water repairs; no additional budget appropriation beyond standard purchasing procedures was announced at the meeting.
