Commissioners pause senior-care contract awards pending review after concerns over one vendor’s qualifications

Dave Birkin (spoke in support of licensed providers) and Gina McLaughlin (Care Builders) told commissioners that licensed home-health agencies have nurses on staff to supervise aides, to respond to changes in client condition, and to manage plans of care; they said cleaning-only firms do not provide that clinical oversight. Commissioners expressed concern and asked county senior services director Diane (last name not provided in record) to provide documentation showing the committee’s evaluation and the vendor qualifications.
The board instructed staff to obtain the procurement documents, provider licensure and supervision evidence, and to hold off on executing the pending contracts until the county can confirm whether awardees meet the RFP…
