Radcliff council adopts ordinance to add second fire captain, adjusts staffing table

Radcliff Sept. 8, 2025 The Radcliff City Council on Monday adopted a second-reading ordinance amending the city's classification and compensation pay plan to increase the fire department's authorized and funded captain positions from one to two and to change the funded staffing level for the administrative assistant to the fire chief.
The ordinance, described during the meeting as an amendment to the Employee Strength Table in the city's classification and compensation pay plan (originally adopted July 1, 2001), was read aloud by staff before the council took a roll-call vote. The council approved the ordinance on the second reading by a recorded 6-0 vote.
The amendment modifies the Fire Department section of the employee strength table: the authorized and funded strength for the captain position is amended from 1 to 2. During the reading council members also discussed a change to the administrative assistant to the chief's funded strength; the assembled transcript records that the funded strength was amended from 1 to 0 (the ordinance text attached to the meeting packet was read into the record).
The measure was moved and seconded on the floor and carried unanimously. The roll-call voting sequence recorded in the meeting transcript shows the following recorded "yes" votes: Bell; Brown; Jeroche; Merle; Owens; Thompson. The mayor announced, "Motion carries," after the tally.
