Gardner City golf commission discusses $32,000 feasibility study, financing and procurement steps

The Gardner City Golf Commission discussed whether to pay for a $32,000 feasibility study for a proposed golf-facility project and reviewed how the city would finance, bid and manage the work, commissioners and staff said at a meeting.

Commissioners and staff framed the study as a required first step before the city could take the project to the City Council. A city staff member told the commission that “we really can't move forward with this, go to the council until this first step is done by law,” and said the study would produce the financial detail needed to determine debt-service impacts and potential lease or fee revenue.

The discussion focused on how the study and any subsequent project would be paid.
