Delaware City Schools hires Keith Pomeroy as superintendent, contract starts Aug. 1

The Delaware City Schools Board of Education approved the employment contract for Keith Pomeroy as superintendent on July 14, 2025, with the contract beginning Aug. 1, 2025, and transitional days starting July 15, 2025.

Board members voted unanimously to approve the contract. Roll-call responses recorded during the meeting show yes votes from board members Missus Gassaway, Miss Harris, Miss McDaniel Browning, Mister Weiner and Mister Beckes/Backus (recorded variably in the transcript). No mover or seconder was identified in the transcript for the motion to approve the contract.

The vote installs Pomeroy as the district’s superintendent effective Aug. 1, following a superintendent search conducted by the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA), which the board referenced earlier in the meeting. During the meeting Miss Harris announced the offer and acceptance and invited Pomeroy to address the board.

Keith Pomeroy addressed the board after the vote, saying he was “so happy to be here” and that he looks forward to “dig in and start to learn even more from everyone about all the great achievements and all the work that’s happening in Delaware City.”

Outgoing Superintendent Heidi Kegley, who spoke later in the meeting, thanked the board and staff and said she was grateful for her time in the district. Kegley noted she will continue transition activities during the coming weeks and wished Pomeroy success.

The contract text as read to the board specified the effective date and transitional days; no additional contract financial terms or salary figures were specified in the public meeting record.
